During the development of the Landfill Business Plan, the issue of curbside collection for both recycling and MSW was discussed and considered. The estimated cost for this program was $550,000/year. At this time, the focus at the facility is to maximize the current drop off program and to develop educational opportunities to increase the level of participation. Your interest is appreciated and please take advantage of the drop off program.
I think that this is a good idea, plus the budget for this surprisingly, isn't that at all expensive compared to others. Plus, I believe that this will really work out. Good luck!

The City Council has been closely monitoring the continuing progress of the landfill. Some of us joined Public Works Director Lavalla and Solid Waste Director Marc Morgan on an informative tour of a single-stream recycling facility in Chittenden County, VT.
I don't know how long some of you posters have used the landfill but it's really become a first-rate facility since my husband and I came to the Upper Valley in 1992. The current City Council and City Administration certainly view it as a critical asset, and are continually looking for ways to reduce waste and maximize the life of the landfill.
Please join us for the Council's review and discussion of the 2010 landfill budget with DPW on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 5:30-8 pm in Council Chambers at City Hall.
