Evening sbouranis.
Sure hope your not in hurry for answer, for if you notice replies for city members aren't often...I am still waiting.
The kicker is,just about at the end of every board meeting member says to visit City of Lebanon website.
Not trying to be wise guy,but if they the board members have no interest kinda makes one wonder how much they really do listen to tax payers concerns. |

Wow, this is surprising. I didn't realize that there are only a few working in Lebanon.

SBouranis, Thomas, JB, and portermisch:
Again, my apologies for lack of replies from anyone from the City till now. From what I can tell, somehow this forum was never properly integrated into the City's routine communications. That may be why the Administration will be replacing this forum with the new online "Lebanon Community Connection." Messages will be routed directly to the appropriate City staff and I am looking for ways to make sure that your elected officials--the 9-member City Council--can monitor topics of public concern and make sure those are being addressed.
Meanwhile, according to the 2010 proposed budget summary, the City has 188.2 full-time equivalent (FTE) positions. Please refer to the Appendix (pp. 405-412) for details, online at
http://lebanonnh.virtualtownhall....inance/budgets/2010proposedbudget
along with the complete budget review schedule, proposed budget, and supporting documents.
I encourage anyone concerned about the municipal budget and taxes to attend the Council's many work sessions this month and next. Beginning last Monday, Nov. 2, at 5:30 pm, eight budget review sessions will occur through early December, culminating in the Dec. 16 public hearing and Council vote on the proposed budget for 2010.
Our next work session is tomorrow night, Nov. 5, 5:30 till 8 pm, focusing on "GENERAL GOVERNMENT / DEBT SERVICE / OTHER FINANCIAL USES." This includes City Clerk, City Manager, City Council, Legal, Finance, Interfund Transfers, Debt Principle & Interest. Debt is a very important variable going forward, with bills coming due for previously approved capital projects such as the new Kilton Library and improvements to the Water Plant, Wastewater Plant, and other public infrastructure.
All budget work sessions are public. Although the actual hearing comes at the end of this process, the work sessions are an important opportunity to understand City services, expenses, and revenues--overall as well as one department at a time. Your input along the way will help your elected representatives--the Council--do our best to balance current demands and financial realities with investments that are needed for the longer-term viability of our City.
Thank you for your interest and input,
Nicole
